Articles is the blog behind this website: a publishing platform I designed and built myself, started as a Medium-style site and now used for my own writing.

What it does

• A section-based editor: text, pictures and references, which can be reordered, with pictures uploaded from the device and shrunk automatically
• Three post states (draft, published, not active), saved revisions with restore, and an export of every post
• Reader reactions without accounts (clap and “insightful”, one each per reader), search, categories and topics, and email subscription
• A private admin portal that signs in with an authenticator code, with an activity history
• Themes that the owner picks, including custom colours that are checked for readability, plus a grammar check and AI picture generation on free services

How it is built

• A layered ASP.NET Core Web API (domain, application, infrastructure) with Entity Framework Core, and over 800 automated tests
• A React single-page app for readers and another for the admin portal, with the TipTap rich-text editor
• A small Cloudflare Worker in front of the public site, so link previews, the sitemap and the RSS feed work for anything that does not run scripts
• Hosted entirely on free tiers: Cloudflare for the sites, Render for the API and Neon for PostgreSQL
